Field Trip News

On Tuesday, October 5, our Preschool, Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten classes will go on an apple and pumpkin picking field trip to Johnson's farm. The bus will leave at 9:15am and will return at 1:00pm. Cost for this trip is $8 for children and chaperones. Please have the children wear a yellow shirt and pack a brown bag, completely disposable lunch. Permission slips and payment are due on Monday, October 4. Let's have fun!

Special Lunch Week

Special lunch week will be held October 18th through the 22nd. Cost for lunch week is $3 per day or $14 for the entire week. Please refer to your calendar for the lunch week menu. Payment for lunch week is accepted in cash form only. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. Payments may be turned into the office or dropped in the Tuition Mailbox hanging outside of the office door. Please remember to write your child's name on the envelope and specify which days you are paying for. Thank you so much for your cooperation!

Paperwork, Paperwork

At the beginning of the school year, Ms. Brooke placed new Emergency Contact forms and Medical Forms for your child in your mailboxes. We have only received about half of the contact and medical forms back. We need to have all of the forms returned by Monday, October 11. If your medical forms are not returned by this date, your child will not be permitted to attend school until those forms are returned. It is very important that we have the most up-to-date immunizations for your child in their files. If you need another form, please see Ms. Brooke!

Costume Parade

This year, our Costume Parade will be held on Friday, October 29th. The parade will be held on the playground (weather permitting) at 12:00pm. Please check with your teachers to find out details for the day. It is the teachers decision if they want to have the children come in costume, or to have the costume sent in to school with your child. We will have lunch a little early that day and children will prepare for the parade with the assistance of the classroom teachers. Get those cameras ready!

Infant Room

We would like to welcome Kaitlen E. to our room. Happy First Birthday to Joseph, Luke, and Seth! We will be busy with lots fun art projects this month including decorating pumpkins and making spooky magnets for the fridge! Since the weather is turning chilly, please make sure you have plenty of weather-appropriate clothing and extra blankets for the crib room. Make sure to remember to come to our costume parade and party at the end of the month -- details to come later!

Your children are wonderfully creative and I am looking forward to see what they come up with next!

We would like to welcome everyone to our class! We had a great start in September and everyone seems to be adjusting very well. During the month of October, we will be learning about Fire Prevention and how to "Stop, Drop, and Roll". We will also learn about 911 and the importance of the "buddy system". We have plans for an Oktoberfest which include a hayride, pumpkin picking, a fun party and our costume parade which will take place on Friday, October 29th. Just a few reminders; please bring in a smock for art, label everything with first and last names, bring a jacket for outside time, and bring in weather-appropriate changes of clothes to leave in your child's cubby.

Thanks!

We will end the month with our Halloween party with lots of spooky goodies and scary costumes. Happy Trick-or-Treating!

Welcome Autumn! During October, we will be learning about letters D, E, and F. Every Wednesday have your child bring an item to school that begins with the letter of the week. We will learn new songs and fingerplays about Community Helpers. We will explore the inside of a pumpkin to discover its texture and to count seeds. We will learn about fire prevention and all of our fire fighter helpers. The weather will be getting cooler so please send your child in with appropriate outside attire. We look forward to having a fantastic fall!

Kindergarten

Wow what a great first month of Kindergarten! Everyone is doing a wonderful job with this exciting transition. Believe it or not, here comes October! In Language Arts, we will review the letters D through G and we will work with our rhyming words. In our Reading Groups we will be able to work with our high frequency words and build sentences. Many of us will begin reading! Math will be an adventure of patterns and graphing. We will be busy with our shapes and color words too. Here we will play games and do a variety of fun activities to strengthen these skills. October is a fun and exciting month for Social Studies and Science. We will have a very important unit of fire safety where we will remind ourselves of the do's and don'ts in our homes to protect us from fire. We will make puppets and special snacks during this week. We will also spend some time discussing the Community Helpers in our neighborhood and think about what we would like to be when we grow up. We will enjoy making a "Sailor's Delight" in celebration of Christopher Columbus. And before we know it, Halloween will be creeping up on us. Time for pumpkin art and spider web creations. Watch out for those ghosts and goblins in our classroom! Our scientific minds will be exploring pumpkins, living versus nonliving things and the four seasons this month. I am very proud of how well our Science Journals are coming along. Our Fine Arts program will invite Mozart and Picasso into our classroom. We will also create with balloons, string, tissue and clay this month. Our cooking time will consist of Fire Balls, edible ships, orange frosties, edible haunted houses and other frightening snacks for Halloween! Thank you Ashley and Jared for being wonderful Special People in September. You filled our bellies with yummies and our days with smiles. We look forward to Matthew and Lauren to fill the spotlight in October. Matthew, Logan and Gabriella did a wonderful job taking care of Herman. In October, Gilda, Will and Camille, and Alec will all have a turn taking our little Hermie home over the weekend. Thank you for all of your help. He is a handful! Get on your bat wings, October is so full of fun and spooky times, it is going to fly by. See you there!
