Playground Fundraiser
We are having a fundraiser to raise money for some playground renovations! We would like to resurface the playground with artificial grass and do away with the wood chips. Watch your mailboxes for a catalog of holiday gifts, wrapping paper, candy, and other items. Orders must be placed by November 14th to guarantee delivery by Christmas. The school will receive a percentage of all orders, and all profits will go toward the playground resurfacing. Get some of your holiday shopping done early, and support our school at the same time!

Picture Days
Don't forget that Picture Days will be held on Tuesday, November 4th and Wednesday the 5th. Be sure to turn in the Portrait Permission Form so your children may be photographed! There is no obligation to purchase by filling out this form. The portrait company will be back at school in mid-November with proofs for parents to review and have the chance to purchase. All purchases come with a free tote bag!

Toddler 2
First, we would like to sadly say goodbye to Amelia S. and Jacob C., who will no longer be in our class. But on the flip side, we have a warm welcome for our new friends Matthew S., Anselme M., and Tyler P. Welcome to our class, boys! This month we will be concentrating on getting to know where we live, what our families are like, the kinds of foods we love, and let's not forget Thanksgiving! We will be doing lots of hands-on projects with different foods and art projects to help us learn about each other and where we come from.

Get Set
November will be full of fun learning experiences in Get Set! We will ask parents to get involved and send in pictures of home and family, as well as learn a little about what holidays and traditions everyone celebrates. We will also learn what being thankful is and talk about what we are thankful for. During "Fantastic Foods" we will learn what the children's favorite foods are, and maybe even try some! Our class will celebrate Thanksgiving with a feast on November 26th after we learn about pilgrims and native Americans, and what Thanksgiving is all about.

KindergartenDuring the month of November, we will be having a gobble of a time reminding ourselves of how thankful we are for the things we have and for the people in our lives. I am thankful for having such a wonderful class! In Reading we will continue our important review of the ABCs while focusing on the beginning and ending sounds of words. As usual, the children are doing a fantastic job with their daily journals. We will spend much of November working with the numbers 1 - 10. We will be having fun together counting and sorting, doing dot-to-dot exercises, making number turkeys, adding Indian feathers, and playing all sorts of number-related games. In Social Studies we will start the month celebrating Election Day by discussing what an election is and what the duties of the President of the United States include. Look out for our "If I Were the President" posters! During our Thanksgiving unit we will make cornucopias, thankful turkeys, and potato turkeys. We will also learn about the Pilgrims and the Indians at the first Thanksgiving. We'll make Mayflower scenes, pilgrim boys and girls, log cabins, tee-pees, totem poles, Indian jewelry, and Pilgrim and Indian costumes. Our unit will conclude with a delicious Thanksgiving feast! Thanksgiving will keep us pretty busy, but we'll still find the time to enjoy an exciting weather unit in our Science program. We will learn about the rain cycle and evaporation. We'll also explore the air around us and the power it has. It will be exciting to discuss different kinds of clouds, temperature, and rainbows. Our country of the month is the USA. We will learn the history of the American flag, and we'll make flags, eagles, the White House, and coin rubbings. Our Fine Arts program will give the children a wonderful experience playing with the form of art called Pointillism. Margret and H.A. Rey and a variety of Thanksgiving stories will also help fill our days with imagination. We will continue our cooking program with a variety of yummy wonders. We look forward to a busy month filled with new experiences and fun times!
