Thanksgiving Feast

Our annual Thanksgiving feast will be held on Tuesday, November 26th. The feast will take place at lunchtime (no chicken nuggets and fries!) For $3.00 per child, they will get to eat turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, and cornbread... a full Thanksgiving dinner! Please turn in your $3.00 in an envelope, the same as you would for any other special lunch day.

Don't forget that school is CLOSED on Thursday the 28th and Friday the 29th.

Have a happy Thanksgiving!

Pajama Day

We are having Pajama Day on Wednesday, November 13th. Send your child to school dressed in his or her favorite jammies, and we will have a fun day full of cozy activites and breakfast treats!

It's Getting Cold!

Temperatures are dropping, but our little ones still need to get outside and run around. Remember to bring a jacket for your child every day, as well as gloves and hats in chillier weather. We go outside almost every day, so be prepared! Also, it is important to LABEL, LABEL, LABEL! Jackets, hats, and gloves are often dropped and misplaced, so the best way to ensure that your child's clothing comes home every day is to write his or her name on everything.

Winter Wear Drive

Throughout the month of November, we will be holding a Winterwear Drive for a local shelter in our area. We are collecting coats, gloves, mittens, etc. in both children's and adult's sizes. These items can be used but must be in good condition. Please drop off any donations in the box in the lobby.
Thank you for your kind donations to this worthy cause.

And on the Subject of Clothes...

We cannot stress enough that every child needs to have a change of clothes in his or her cubby! Even older children have accidents, and some activities can be quite messy. So please make sure that your child has a change of clothes, and please make sure that they are seasonally appropriate!

News from the Classrooms

Infant Room

During the month of November we are excited to learn about turkeys! We are going to use many different textured items to make our turkeys. We will experiment with tissue paper, glue, feathers, and fingerpaint to make our handprint turkeys. Towards the end of the month we will begin to make our holiday presents. Can you believe it's almost that time of year?

First Steps

First Steps is sad to see two of our lovely ladies moving up - Caroline and Emily. We will miss the joy that they brought to our room. We are excited to begin celebrating the holiday season. Thanksgiving will be a fun time of making handprint turkeys and remembering what we are thankful for.

November 11-15 we will be exploring, tasting, and making yummy "Tummy Treats." The week of November 18th we will focus on saying "please" and "thank you" and practice good manners by sharing. The last week of November we will make special placemats for the Thanksgiving Feast, and will practice giving hugs and kisses to our parents, teachers, and friends to show how thankful we are.

It's November already! Our preschoolers are doing so well writing their letters and names. We will continue working on our writing in November, and hopefully get better and better! We will start off the month learning about farms. We will "milk a cow" and do some fun chocolate pudding art! Next we move on to Tummy Treats, where we will cut out coupons and talk about our favorite treats. For Mind Your Manners, we will talk about proper manners, and read books like "The Rainbow Fish" and "When Elephant Goes To School."
We will round off the month with a Thanksgiving luncheon!

Pre-K 1

We will design fresh leaf wreaths and with the leftover materials, we will make potpourri to give our classroom the feel of fall. We will learn about our Native Americans and their customs, families, and favorite traditions. We will design a medicine pouch and go on a nature hunt. We will also be working with corn and beans. We'll have fun making our own bread & butter, and making placemats and Indian headdresses. Finally, we will create pilgrim hats for our feast and re-enact the first Thanksgiving!

Pre-K 2

As you have already noticed, our class apple tree has come down for renovations. A new winter apple tree will be arriving in a few days! It has a lot less leaves and a few winter animals.
For this month's show and tell, we will be focusing on G, H, and I. The kids really enjoy bringing in pieces of home to show their friends.
At the end of the month, we will be having a special sit down lunch and give thanks for our classroom that is filled with many friends!

Kindergarten

Well, some crazy things are happening in Kindergarten this month! We will try to keep things as normal as possible while we keep up the search for a new teacher. This month we will learn about Thanksgiving and have a huge feast towards the end of the month. We will begin to study numbers in math and continue to look at plants in science. Wish us all luck while we learn to adjust to our new situation!
