Chick Hatching
On Monday, May 17th we will begin a special, school-wide project. Quiver Farm will be doing a presentation for the children about chick hatching, then they will leave 12 eggs and an incubator for us to keep at school. The children will have the opportunity to watch the eggs hatch in about a week! We will keep the chicks at school for an additional week for the children to observe and learn about. We can't wait to begin this exciting and educational project with the children!

Teacher Appreciation
May 3rd - 7th has been designated National Teacher Appreciation Week. This is a great time to let your child's teachers know that they are appreciated for all the hard work that they do every day. We have a Teacher Star Board located in the Exploration Room. We will have stars available on the sign in shelf for parents to fill out as well. Please feel free to drop them in the tuition mailbox so we can laminate and display them.

Food Allergy Awareness Week
May 9-15 has been designated Food Allergy Awareness Week by the Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network (FAAN). There are a number of children at our school who suffer from serious food allergies. Lorraine and Rich Stehly (Benjamin in Kindergarten's parents) have provided us with some valuable information on food allergies to help increase awareness; we have attached a copy of the information sheet to this newsletter.

Book Fair
We'll be holding our annual end-of-the-year Scholastic Book Fair during the week of May 24-28. Because it is almost the end of the school year, Scholastic offers a "buy one, get one free" deal on all items. This is a great time to stock up on books! As always, the fair will be held in the front hallways throughout the week. The office will be open for purchases from 8:00am to 5:00pm. We can accept cash, checks, or credit cards for purchases.

Finally, we will learn healthy eating during "Feeling Fruity" week. We can't wait to have a fruit salad party with our friends and see how fruits and vegetables grow.
